I Am Mad as Hell: Race for Chair Gets Dirty

Posted by Curtis

You know what pisses me off? People who use dirty campaign tactics. A short while ago, I received an email stating that “Wayne Holland” was following me on Twitter, somewhat confused (as Wayne was already following me on Twitter), I clicked on it only to find this twitter page.

Do we need a reminder on what makes a campaign tactic “dirty” – would Part I, Part II, or Part III suffice?

What I find particularly interesting is that “Wayne’s” page does not include either my response of “@BlandInUtah I don’t know who is behind this – but it is dirty and uncalled for. Stop with this petty shit, both sides.” or Jeff Bell’s (Wayne’s opponent) response “@blandinutah – take it down.”

For those of you who do not know the “@” sign sends a direct message to that persons page in Twitter, unless it is specifically blocked.

If you need proof of this, here are the screen shots from my and Bland’s page.

Bell’s response

I highlighted my clock to prove that these were taking at the same time. Bland had nothing on his page for 37 minutes when I took the picture, even though Jeff responded in under 20 minutes with the specific request that this page be taken down.

Now, I don’t know who is responsible for this. It is equally possible that it is a Bell or Holland supporter.  If it is a Bell supporter, this page is dumb because it casts the person you support in a bad light and makes you look stupid. If this is a Holland supporter, this is one of the dirtiest tactics you could do in any campaign – it is shameful and it smacks of desperation.

For the record, I think that this was done by someone outside the campaign, neither Wayne nor Jeff is responsible.

In either case, I support Bell, and I make no apologies for this. As I have always said in every campaign I have ever worked on or supported: do your research and vote for the person you think is best, not the person that you think you should support.

Bell needs to cut it out. This is getting Bizarre.

  2. Curtis says:

@Lyle – like I said, I don’t think it is Bell or Holland – I am willing to bet it is a crazy supporter who either is not helping Bell or Holland in their actions.

    UPDATE -
    The page has been removed.

Nice catch. No place for it, and it cheapens the discussion.

I’ve been watching this race from afar and I don’t like how people I know have been pitted one against another. Good people. It’s why I have no taste for party politics anymore.

I got a notice that @BlandInUtah was following me, but the account was taken down by the time I checked it out. Now I see what it was about. Whoever did it really needs half a brain. It’s not funny, nor helpful no matter which candidate you prefer.

    Annoying.
