Main Street Plaza Protest Scheduled

Posted by Curtis

I received the following email and was asked to publish it – sorry it took so long to do so; I have had a rather hectic day.

Tomorrow morning (Sun, July 12th) at 9:00am, a group is meeting at the Main Street Plaza.  They invite those concered about the events on the Main Stree Plaza, both gay and straight, to join them for their our own “public display of affection.”  Nothing inappropriate…but just basic stuff like hugging, kissing, holding hands, etc.  to see what the security guards do then – will they ask them all to leave?  or just the gay/lesbian couples?

    This is absurd.

Let us know if anything happens. It sounds like it’s part protest part social experiment.

You guys are slow. It’s private property. Try going to ANY church, protestant, catholic, whatever and doing the same thing. Guarantee they will ask you to leave, straight or gay. I agree. That is just absurd. Stop trying to make yourself victims and trying to cause crap. Someone should have taught you when you were kids throwing fits is no way to get your way about something.

This IS absurd! I have a boyfriend, and we both respect the rights of property owners. If someone were to come on to our property and wave banners protesting the two of us being together, I want to retain the right to have them removed also. After all, it is MY property.

Quit victimizing yourselves! Your stupid actions only prolong the day when my partner and I will be socially accepted. And grow up–you deserved to get a trespassing citation. And the fact that only a scant few showed up to your “protest” tells you that this community has the intellect to avoid crap like that.

My suggestion: learn how to respect other people! When you do, that sentiment will most likely be reciprocated.
