We don’t need no stinkin’ education
I understand why some of you may not have noticed my “Legislator Grievances” section of this blog – it has had a couple of complaints on my part, but I have not really advertised it. So, with the legislative session underway on Monday, I feel I should officially open it up with none other than the infamous Chris Buttars.
Now, the rules for showing up on the page are simple – you won’t get thrown on there if you are simply doing your job as a legislator – i.e. proposing laws. I will simply pick you apart in a regular post. No you have to do something that goes above and beyond your job.
Like proposing that the state do away with the 12th grade…
Now, that would fall into the whole “doing your job” thing – but his statements supporting it are fair game – like “We’re about the only country in the industrialized world that uses 12 grades. The rest use 11.”
I have to wonder if Senator Butters is aware of the fact that the United States is ranked 24th of 38 in mathematics, 9th of 38 in science, 7th of 38 in reading, and 20th of 38 in problem solving amongst industrialized nations. Apparently his solution to this is less school.
Come to think of it the 20th out of 38th in problem solving would explain Buttars logic.
So now I add Chris Buttars’ first entry to my LEgislator Grievances section. I know this list will only get longer.
Did you hear? Senator Buttars wants to get rid of Seniors!
