Jeremy Peterson is the Republican candidate for House District 9. His opponent is Neil Hansen (D) (incumbent).
Jeremy’s website is www.petersonfornine.com. At the time of publication he did not provide a Facebook fan page, or Twitter account. He can be contacted via email at jpeterson@xmission.com.
Here are Jeremy’s answers to my absurd questions:
1) How long have you lived in your district and what made you move there in the first place? We have lived in the district for 9 years. We moved to Downtown Ogden from Roy when we saw the rejuvenation and rebirth occurring in the city. My wife and I knew that this was something that we wanted to participate in and so we moved our family to the inner-city and got to work. We have been involved in the restoration of approximately 12 historic homes since our move to Ogden and continue to work to make our city a great place to live.
2) What does your family look like (married; kids; pets)? I am married with four daughters ages 8,6,4 and 2.
3) What do you drive? What is your dream vehicle? I drive a 1995 Mitsubishi Montero. My dream vehicle is a four door Jeep Wrangler.
4) What was the last book you finished? The Federalist Papers…almost done with Adam Smith’s 1200 Page epic The Wealth of Nations
5) What is your favorite store and/or restaurant in your district? Tonas Sushi Bar on Historic 25th Street is the Best!
6) Turn your head to the right, what do you see? I see my collection of architecture and home design books.
7) In 25 words or less, explain why you are a Republican. I believe that life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness is possible when the self-determination of individuals is unimpeded by government micro-management.
8) Who would win if a bear and a shark fought each other (feel free to explain)? The bear. The shark would suffocate in the woods.
9) In 50 words or less, explain why you want to be a public servant. I believe that I have been blessed with the skills and capacity to serve in such a position and I consider it a duty to do so given such.
10) What was the last cultural event you went to? I attended the Pioneer Days rodeo.
11) What are the three things you plan to fight for when elected? Immigration Reform, A Balanced Budget, Measures to Enhance Job Creation
12) Do you know what OMGWTFBBQ stands for? Yes. It sounds like a very foul-mouthed picnic.
13) What is the most important amendment in the Bill of Rights? They are all important. This question is like asking me which of my daughters is my favorite!
14) What is your favorite band? This month my favorite band is Luna. Others include Low, Tool, Neil Young, and most classical music.
15) If you could change one thing about your district, what would it be? I would accelerate the rate at which improvements are being made to our neighborhoods.
