Meet the Candidates: Samuel Fidler, Republican candidate for Senate District 5

Posted by Curtis Haring

Samuel Fidler is running as the Republican in Senate District 5. His opponetns at Karen Mayne (D)(incumbent), and Jim Peverelle (C).

His website is www.VoteFidler.com, and his Facebook fan page can be found by clicking here, and he can be found on Twitter @utsenate5. Samuel can also be reached via email at sam@votefidler.org.

Here are Samuel’s answer to my absurd questions:

1)      How long have you lived in your district and what made you move there in the first place? My mother moved into the district in 1990 when I was serving my mission in Australia and it has been my official home of record since with the exception of a few years when I had to work in Tucson.

2)      What does your family look like (married; kids; pets)? I have been married to by wonderful wife for almost 19 years now and we have a 16 year old son.

3)      What do you drive? What is your dream vehicle? I alternate between my M151 Army jeep and my Harley RoadKing.  My wife gets to drive our truck with the radio and AC.

4)      What was the last book you finished? Storm Testament III.

5)      What is your favorite store and/or restaurant in your district? Home Depot.

6)      Turn your head to the right, what do you see? A commercial airliner on final approach into Salt Lake  International.

7)      In 25 words or less, explain why you are a Republican. Of the two parties, it was the one with the least amount of correction required.

8)      Who would win if a bear and a shark fought each other (feel free to explain)? The bear; they eat fish for breakfast.

9)      In 50 words or less, explain why you want to be a public servant. I have been a public servant for most of my life and I feel that I can continue to serve in this new capacity and not fall victim to the usual power fever.

10)  What was the last cultural event you went to? Today.  I attended the funeral of Jack Tomlin, a world renowned collector of historic military vehicles.

11)  What are the three things you plan to fight for when elected? Individual liberties, job opportunities, and more efficiency in educational funding.

12)  Do you know what OMGWTFBBQ stands for? Oh my gosh, where’s the food for the barbeque?

13)  What is the most important amendment in the Bill of Rights? There is not most important one.  None of them can exist without the others.

14)  What is your favorite band? Rubber band?

15)  If you could change one thing about your district, what would it be? The Senator representing it.
