Blue in Red Zion was created in 2006 by Curtis Haring and is based in Salt Lake City, Utah of which he is a life-long resident.

Curtis a proud liberal and Democrat who values healthy debate over partisan rancor. That being said, Blue in Red Zion is specifically designed not to tout liberal ideologies, but to provide sound logic and reason as to why an attitude of “we over me” is best for our community, state, nation, and world.

With a B.S. in Political Science from the University of Utah, and having worked on numerous state and local races, Curtis has had the opportunity to experience politics first hand. Furthermore, Curtis has interned for the Democratic National Committee in Washington D.C. and the Utah Senate Democrats.

Currently Curtis is a Financial Reporting Specialist with Discover Student Loans. In the past Curtis has been  the Coordinator for Bountiful City Communities that Care; an organization tasked with engaging members of the community in attacking youth related issues.  He is also the former vice chair for the Salt Lake City Human Rights Commission and the  the most vocal (read “loudest”) person at Drinking Liberally, Salt Lake City. Curtis  is also the former Executive Director for Utah Fair Boundaries and was the Vice President of the Young Democrats of Utah for four years.

Curtis lives with his wife, Jill (or “My Republican Wife” or “MRW” on the blog) with his cat, a Russian Blue named Ruski. Curtis’ family currently resides in downtown Salt Lake City.
